Been browsing and moseying around the site and see that
most people post 3D renderings.
Slammer is a 2D kind of fellow, never quite got into 3D,
just too many dimensions for me
Anybody else a flatliner?

I would like to learn some 3D programs, but I for the most part just use photoshop.

I simulated some 3D objects with photoshop in my recent post Cyber Space

I started with Paint shop pro 7, then moved on to Photoshop and then I started working in bryce and I have to tell you the best results you can get are by combining the two together. For example say you want to make a realistic earth you will need a realistic terrain texture and an realistic cloud image. Combining the two have the best results in my opinion.

Paintshop that is from the Corel family if I remember
correctly?
I started with Letraset ColorStudio, at the time years
ahead of Photoshop even with Kai Krause, I started using
Photoshop in the version 1.0, ah happy memories,
especially when you could only go back once when you
screwed up.
I love the Bryce but sadly it won't run on my OS 10.7.5

Hi Slammer

At the Time Paint Shop pro was made by Jasc but Corel own it now. As was Bryce when I first used it but now its daz thats owns it. You have Mac OS Lion is it or Mountain Lion I still use Snowleopard only as I am not impressed with either Lion or Mountain lion as they are compatible with Bryce and some dodgy reviews some people have give them. If you want to use Bryce on Lion or Mountain Lion get Fusion Ware and you can install an windows version of Bryce on your mac. or You can use Bootcamp to install windows on another partition.

I have Mountain Lion running on a MacMini, a machine
that I bought when I lost my job and no longer had access
to a Mac Pro, the Mini has so far surprised me in
performance, I use a mid range LG flatscreen telly for the
main monitor and a DELL-screen as a second unit, the only
dark stain is that I find Mountain Lion a tad crash happy
from time to time, methinks I will get a DOS-box sooner or
later for things like Bryce and a few RIP and workflow
things that I like to use.

I pretty much started with photoshop 7 then gradually learned how to draw planets (brushes, rock textures, visible earth) & nebula using my mouse and later on with a wacom. I moved into 3D land with Vue and AC3D for modeling. Also, Terragen 1 and 2.

I haven't made a 2D scene in a loooong time due to not having much time for it, or procrastinating it too much.

I have always thought that the result out of programs like
Bryce, as breathtaking as they are, look well, Brycey
for want of a better word.
At the moment I am loosing my mind over a ice landscape,
I am doing preliminaries on something along the lines of a
iceteroid in the Saturn-belt, I don't want the dirty snowball
but a ice cubey look, I am not getting it the way I want and
it's driving me nutttts!
