OK, that makes more sense. If they were windows, an escape pod would likely have limited fuel reserves, and wouldn't want to waste it on that much interior lighting. On the other hand, that much light would make it easier to find! But engines would be essential, especially if it was intended as a lifeboat, capable of landing on a planet, rather than just floating in space around until someone found it.
Are you going to use it as part of a ship, or in disaster scenes? If the latter, you might want to add antennae and strobe lights. The antennae would probably be hidden, and the lights off, while attached to a ship. After deployment it would likely be broadcasting on every band available to attract rescuers.
