Hi pogona, i like the work you just was begin. The most important tings are: - you should know what to do. - you should know how much details are needed in that picture. - and the most important thing is you must know when to stop. I wrote those things because there are a lot artists who dont know that and they are painting a lot details (half of the details are useless and they make the scene hard understandable and ugly). About that "when one artist should stop to touch the painting", this is very very important because when you dont know when to stop, so the pictures will become ugly because of loosing the idea. Sorry about that I write thing which dont have any connection with your questions. I just are going to crazy from some artists (not from this forum) which have a possibility to create something incretible cool but they do the reverse of the things i wrote there up except the first point ''you should know what to do". Maybe they are still ''noobs'' in art... I dont know. About the picture, I like how is going now. I think the peoples on right are unnecessary. You can try to put some texture on the ground (scratches and so on) but be carefull about the scale. I like everything except the peoples on right side in the composition. I wish you luck. Cheers.

well thanks for the tip anyway.
yes, maybe the people on the right side aren't needed
about the planet, it's not gonna be as easy as putting a ball into the picture because in this kind of picture it wouldn't look well, but I'll try to work something out and see if it's worth it.

I would argue that the people ARE needed. When dealing with a scene for which the viewer has no references, a human is one of the simplest ways to provide a sense of scale. Unlike most terrestrial scenes, a spacedock could be almost any size. This way, the viewer can tell that the ships are large enough to carry passengers and cargo, but not the size of towns, or small worlds.

Pogona, really like the way this is progressing and I agree with NKalanaga on having people as a scale mesurement. Also Nastex's statements are quite good for all folks to consider, the artist really needs to know when to quite, more is not necessarily better.. Best way to do this is to put the rendering WIP away for a few days, do something else, then come back to it. Jan
