hey guys,
Im sorry for not posting anything the last few weeks, but i had my exams so not really enough time to do any pics
but since i finished em i started some new artwork today which looks like this atm:
big version : http://www.solarvoyager.com/uploads/Skulled/asteroid.jpg
I wanted to use this as BG and add a big asteroid from terragen in the foreground with some smoke n stuff...
but what i wanted to know is if u guys know a way to insert terragen objects/terrain without the black background, kinda like a png? bcos rendering that stuff in photoshop would be a real pain :/

If you're comfortable with command-line programs, ImageMagick's convert utility can be used to add any 8bit grey-scale image as an alpha (opacity) channel to any png image, or to most other image formats which support an alpha channel.

If you want to add a TG foreground, what you need to do is render it with a cloudless sky (or black bg) and take that into PS, select the sky by using the color select tool, or by using the magic wand. Then you can delete it if you want, but I like using masks and it hides parts of the image you don;t want to see (like the planets below the horizon) .... or why don't I just point you to the tutorial on my new site - check out the bottom tutorial, it'll show you how to do this Hope that helps

Cool image idea, I like it. Regulus has already given you the tools you need to get this done so I just wanted to say two things.
1) cool image idea
2) I had no idea your site was up and running already Brian!!!

It is up and running, not 100% finished, I guess it's more of a 'soft' opening as i get more stuff up there.
