Working on this in Cinema 4D. I wanted to make a pseudo-generic large transport ship. All models and textures were created by myself. I need input as to what additions it could use (e.g - antennae array, docking bays, weapons?????) Yes, this is a work in progress to add to a larger piece. I appreciate all input!!! -Chachi Full Wallpaper View: 1280x720

Cool work! I'd love to see some more angles of the ship, but this looks good. It's hard to say what to add with only seeing the rear end, but you could add some manuevering thrusters. Also it might look good to add some damage, maybe battle damage or just wear and tear, along seams, edges, by engines, vents, etc. Just to give it a more realistic look

Good points! I was imagining the scale to be utterly massive (like a ship to transport after entire planetary disaster? Moving a whole civilization in search of a new home).
But the damage and battle scars might hint at a long and dangerous journey!!
(you have great suggestions!)

Hehe -- yeah, think of the Millennium Falcon, which had numerous plates on it that were a different color from the rest of the ship, kind of like an old beater Chevy Impala with a primer-colored fender that had been replaced at some point. I worked on the Star Trek Cardassian warship back in 1990 and on it we placed a couple of thin "patch" panels and then airbrushed some scorch marks around it, as if the panel was covering up some sort of battle damage. The dirtier you make it, the more realistic it becomes and the better story it tells. This looks great by the way (if showroom new!)

I guess I'll have to set it on fire and kick it down a flight of stairs for realism (wonder if the C4D physics engine can do that O.o)

One other suggestion -- to make something look really huge, try putting lots of tiny little detail bits on it in various places. Voyager's "Big Buddah" image, for example, uses lots of tiny windows to indicate scale.

This is a really awesome model - I agree with everything
regulus and klankster said, but I also think to really give
a huge sense of scale, you could put a bunch of really
really little spaceships around it. Nice work!

Augustus, that is a great idea! I never thought to put like maybe "escort" ships or a small squadron of fighters flanking it......excellent
