I voted too (though please don't send me an iPad. I can't stand apple!). Most of the pictures there are terrible. It's OK if it's just "create something inspired by these images" but if they're actually planning to use these to promote space then it's pretty dismal.

I voted. Good lord I know this has been said before but
what a horrible system. First place has even more votes
now... this is absurd. I feel like sending them a less-
than-friendly e-mail.

I don't think I'm going to join Facebook just for this, but I agree it's quite absurd the way they're doing this, and the entries i saw..... well I just hope they don't share them with the public, it would probably set the whole effort to go into space back a few decades!

PS Real nice image Fahad - why don't you post it here at SV

Tom, EDG1 and Augustus, thank you guys for your votes. I really appreciate it! It feels good that people share my view and they'll support me.

I was invited to take part in the contest by Richard Astley, and in our mail exchange I conveyed my thoughts to him. He's gonna take it up with the ESA board, and if something new develops, he'll let me know, and I'll let you know.

Thanks again. You guys are the best!

*EDIT: Brian, I guess I'm too lazy. I have another, better painting to post, which I'm gonna do soon. It was my original entry, and I'm more happy about it.

I would vote for you but I don't have facebook right now. either way, that picture is amazing, better than anything I have done or can do. You are the kind of artist I aim to be someday.

Thank you Andrew.

Good, you have a goal! Keep working on it! One key difference between a master and an intermediary/rookie is that the master has had the patience to learn both easy "things" and complex "things".

This takes time. I've been doing space art for about seven years now, and I still feel that I know very little. I could swallow buckets of info and knowledge, and still have more to learn! So in all this, you need a goal, and a steady pace.

Also, I've recently discovered and experienced that in order to master one subject, you have to know subjects that relate to it. In my case Astronomy connects with natural sciences, and the Art connects to subjects like cognitive sciences and communication. Once again, you need a goal, and a steady pace. If you keep on it, all you can do is succeed!

If you ever need any feedback specifically from me, you know where to find me.

Cheers,
Fahad.
