Welcome to Solar Voyager! This is a great place to share space art, even if you have just started, there are lots of folks on here willing to answer questions and help.
My advice on your quality issue is: never use "save for web" EVER!! at least not for anything that requires decent quality. I "save as" my images in Photoshop as hi quality (12 i think is maximum) jpgs and then use Irfanview (free simple image editor - google it) to resize and save them for the web. I usually resize them to around 1000x750, but thats just personal preference, and i leave them at 100 percent quality. If i am going to print something out on paper, i use .tif files since they are lossless, but much bigger filesize than jpg. So always save your .psd files, since they are full quality and then you can go back and resave something if needed.
