I'm just getting started in drawing space pictures though I've wanted to for some time.  I'll be posting a few of my early pictures soon but wanted to know the best way to create an interesting sun like I've seen in many picture.

If anyone could help I'd appreciate it.

Hello, William,

it's a question of whart You want to depict: a sun as a part of a landscape or as
the main theme. And it depends of the fact which tools You are using.

I've used lens flare before to make a far off sun but it's obvious when you do it so I'd been wondering how others create a sun that has a nice glow to it without looking like a filter.'

maybe You can give Terragen a chance. It's a 3 d program for free and it
creates suns like this:
