this is my first starry sky thing...I am going to add stuff to it - maybe a planet...or more.
Please tell me what you think of it. Too bland? Too colorful? Not enough stars? Too many? Too crappy? I like it but...I'm biased heh heh

Hi Mihai, Welcome to SV
Don't add anything to this piece-it is simply stunning the way it is. Starfield is great, nebula is superb. It looks rather 3D.
If you are going to add anything, be very, very careful.
One of the dangers of adding say planets to your picture is that you have beautifully render planets as well as a beautifully rendered background (in this case your nebula and starfield-you will want to show it all and you can't. You would have to make the nebula very transparent (dull) in order to pull your planets forward). Jan

i like this because it has no planets, and scales are kept accurate
very nice work with the starfields and colors. Smoooooooooth.
However, id work a little bit on the nebula arms to the far left, far right, and far bottom. They look a bit too smooth when compared to the rest.

that's weird - I tried showing the pic to a friend in finland and he told me he can't access my site either... it must be the server...
JanL - thanks for the kind words. It was made in photoshop - no 3d stuff... I don't know anything about 3d apps :)
I don't understand what you mean by making the nebula duller though...Would you reccomend toning it down to bring the (eventual) planet into focus? Or ...?
Dinyctis - thank you too:) - I will work on those arms - thanks for pointing them out...I'm learning this as I go along...they do seem a bit "manmade"...

Hi Mihai, yes that't what I meant toning the background down (easiest way is with the transparency tool. In PSP, its located in the layer palette function, photoshop will have it somewhere too. That will make your planets pop to the front instead of being buried by the background. Jan

I'll simple say "ditto" to what the others have already mentioned. I think this is a good piece overall.

Hi Mihai, i think it is a great picture, i don't think it even needs a planet. Maybe a few touchups on the nebula arms like dinyctis said, and you're good to go. Nice work!
