Hello. I was just wondering what is a good free ware or trial photo shop kind of editor that I can use to create these kind of images? Any trial one you guys know of I hope that it is not too limited in controls or only lets you try for one hour. I was looking for either a really good free ware or a 1+ day(s) trial that lets me have most of the controls.

I was also wondering, I just got the new M17 Alienware Laptop, but I only have 2 Gigabytes of RAM, I was wondering if that is enough to create a great space image?

I think about and wonder about space often, and love the topic.

Any other advice about anything is greatly appreciated.

2 GB is enough to make space art, but I've always had my doubts about Alienware machines...

Anyway, I know plenty of people who get by with GIMP and make some pretty neat stuff. I used to be in among the GIMPist crowd until I got a Powermac with Photoshop included. But still, there really isn't much that Photoshop can do that GIMP can't, in my opinion.

Welcome to SV Blazivon.

Just so you have an idea for comparison, I'm running a Toshiba
Satellite P105-S6147 with an Intel 1.6Gh dual-core processor
and 1Gb of RAM. Im running Linux as my OS and use Gimp 2.6
as my graphics program. You can see what I've done so far in
the Works in Progress section of the Forum. My current project
is in Snowhog - Space #3.

Gimp is available for Windows. You can start
here.

I'd like to point out that it's not the paintbrush but
the artist who holds the paintbrush that makes a
painting what it is.

I'd suggest browsing around and seeing which artists
you like the most. You might be able to learn
something from them in the way they make what
they make.
