Hi Mark, given that it was kicked out of another galaxy, even if it was headed for us, the human race wouldn't even be a vague memory by that time, our sun would only be a core of itself and a relatively cool core at that.  Jan

I wasn't worried, as the info was detailed on that point. I was wondering where it was headed and if we could observe its travel.

What's more worrisome is if a rogue gamma burst is heading our way.

Yes, it would be a bit of a downer if either event were to transpire. A more
local (but highly unlikely outcome) risk is that the Large Hadron Collider
might create a stable black hole when activated this year. If that were to
happen, I wonder how long it would take to devour the earth?
