This website has existed now for almost 4 years, serving as a display
gallery for some of the best space art on the internet today.
Unfortunately, due to reasons which I will not share here, I can no
longer maintain the site. Therefore, pending any changes, the
website will close permanently on Saturday, October 9th. Please
read the following message for more information.

We have so much great artwork here, so many active members, and
valuable messages that I do not want to see these things simply
disappear in 2 weeks. With that in mind, if there is someone out
there who has the technical knowledge and desire to take-over operation
of the site, I would be willing to make the transfer. This would
be a large responsibility though. It would involve the actual
transfer of the domain name to the new owner. It would also
require the new owner to have web space to handle a site with this sort
of traffic (usually 25 gigs of transfer per month), as well as
knowledge of ASP and SQL. Beyond that, it would have to be
someone I know, or someone who is vouched-for by someone I know because
I do not want the domain to become some advertiser's billboard.
Ideally I would like to see someone take the current content - all
messages and artwork, and carry it forward. It must remain a
community site. I also realize that the transfer may not be
completed right away, so I will work with the new owner as much as
possible. If anyone is interested in this, please email me
privately: webservice@solarvoyager.com

Oh my God, what a way to start a day, I just woke up!
This is very unfortunate and I am very sad about this, it came as a
shock! There is no place on the web that can match the quality of
Solarvoyager as far as I know. This is gonna take some time to come
over, that's for sure!
Unfortunately I dont have any knowledge of sql or asp...yet,

This is a terrible piece of news. You have shaped a fantastic little gem of the internet here - it would be a pity - no - a travesty if it were allowed to disappear.
I am so sorry to hear this, I hope something can be done to prevent SV from leaving our lives.

As with what everyone else is saying, thats terrible. I think this
forum is great for asspiring space artists like me. I found I got great
help here with the tutorials and everyone who posted messages to my
work. But where do we go to now if no one will take over. The amount of
work that I see here gives me great inspiration to create more
pictures. This is too sad.

so much was gained, though. Its not like it was useless and nobody learned a thing throughout its existence
